PERU’S FIRST GREEN MEDICAL CLINIC

Mayu is excited to announce Peru’s first GREEN medical clinic. This project is sponsored by the Yantalo Peru Foundation, a non-profit that operates in the Moyobamba Province in Peru. Yantalo is one of Mayu’s close friends and is instrumental in bringing programs in health, culture, and education to Peruvians who need them, such as our artisans. Yantalo’s volunteers contribute to projects as diverse as teaching English to running Public Health workshops. This international clinic represents a milestone for Yantalo, and is an event worthy of celebrating in the history of medicine in Peru.

The Andelina Soplin Clinic will be the first in Peru to incorporate solar power, telemedicine, and water conservation in order to decrease their environmental footprint. This clinic plans to service anybody in need of medical treatment, regardless of their financial status. Andelina Soplin will also serve as a training center for Peruvian medical students and physicians. All of these measures will ensure that the clinic is a sustainable and efficient enterprise which will treat many who would not otherwise have access to quality medical care.

The month of June sees twelve students from the University of Rochester Medical School in New York visiting Yantalo to treat and educate local schoolchildren. This is the first time an all-Hispanic team will be traveling to Peru on a medical mission. These students will be followed in August by fifteen more medical professionals to the site, whose mission is to treat 527 local schoolchildren. We at Mayu are very excited about the work that Yantalo is doing to deliver quality healthcare to our dear friends in the Moyobamba region.
